Wedding dress designers 101
David Peck is a Houston-based company that I can get really excited about! David, the designer, is frequently at wedding events and is obviously invested in the Houston bridal community.
This is what the David Peck salon had to say about the company, which I think sums up their process well: “A David Peck made-to- measure bride is able to create a dress that is truly a reflection of her. In David Peck’s chic and inviting studio, a bride can explore, right down to the last stitch, how she wants to look on the most important day of her life. The David Peck showroom, studio, and production facility are located under one roof in the heart of Upper Kirby.  Every garment produced by David Peck USA is conceptualized, designed, and manufactured in the company’s Houston headquarters. As opposed to a traditional bridal salon, the company has complete control of the design and manufacturing process.  This allows David and the bride the ability to check in on the dress every step of the way.  Any alterations or desired changes to the gown are completed with great ease.  This dedication to quality and craftsmanship ensures all details are perfect and the fit is truly one that is made for her.  At David Peck USA, “You are always ONE of ONE.”

With design, fitting and alterations done cohesively, the result of a David Peck made to measure gown is so much more valuable and cost effective than that of a traditional salon. We take our work very seriously and the unforgettable experience is just as precious as the memorable gown.”

The neat thing is that you really can make the dress of your dreams!  And it will fit like a glove, because it was only made for you.  The David Peck bride is one who knows what she wants, and is ready to be the only one who will ever have that gown!

The dress I painted was one I saw at the Weddings In Houston “I Do!” Bridal Soiree at the Corinthian Hotel on April 17th.  I was so excited to see some more of David’s Work!  The gown that really caught my eye was a blush ball gown. I picture that the type of bride that wears this gown is fun while being understated.  It is so subtly pink (the gown shown to the left), which is very high fashion and delicate. Each piece of fabric was carefully hand-dyed, creating a pink that doesn’t scream bubble-gum, rather hinting at romance.  The salon also does custom bridesmaid gowns, mother of the bride gowns, and a ready to wear collection. This particular gown runs $4,900, but because every gown is custom, that may not accurately reflect whatever gown you might commission.

I stumbled upon this interesting video on the David Peck website.  I am of the belief that if you can find something that is just as good as the competition and is more environmentally / socially responsible, then you should choose that product.  Watch the video and see what I mean.

When I chose David Peck for this series, I didn’t think I would feel like I now NEEDED to go in and get a custom-made item of clothing, but now I do!  I love having my current clothing tailored, so I can only imagine having a high quality item created specifically for me!  Imagine having that on your wedding day.  I also so appreciate their business model of being intentional with what they do.  They make all of their clothes here, from the conception to the production.  This may not be the case for every wedding dress designer out there, but I applaud the David Peck Company for being a pioneer in the industry.  If you are a bride, check them out!

You can find the David Peck flagship salon in Houston HERE. I hope this helped you learn a little more about the bridal industry and check out Houston’s own designer!

Blessings!
