I’ve been doing quite a bit of live event painting at inspirational photo shoots lately!  This was another fabulous day, shot at Brazos Bend National Park.  I was asked by the wonderful Natalie Dawley of Two Be Wed to paint live in a Downton Abbey inspired wedding photo shoot.

This is turning out terrible! Aaahh!”, while on the outside I was calm and acted like I knew what I was doing. During almost every painting I have a moment where I think, “Oh yeah, this is bad”, and somehow by the time I am complete I end up loving it. This was the same way with this fella!

I could not have asked for a more fun crew to work with.  Ashley Tinsley of Bourbon and Bloom provided the accessories10151076_10152269867352777_1797746496_n for the event, with gorgeous vintage couches, table, and other decor, while the flowers were by Tamara Menges Designs. Dionne Christiansen provided invitations and other paper accessories, and I cannot wait to take one of her calligraphy classes. Natalie Drummond at Over The Top Linen provided linens and was so encouraging to a new Houstonian like myself!  Sheron Madden of Sugary & Chic Cake Boutique did the cake, which looked good enough to eat, even if it was just for a photo shoot!. The incredibly talented Christa Elyce photographed the event, although she was dressed up in riding-style clothing so she could have been a guest at the fictitious event. Also she made me look amazing, which is the most important part, right? My dress was the In Honor Gown by Alice By Temperley from Rent the Runway.  It was romantic and the dark lace detailing was great for this style of photo shoot.

Some other notable vendors were the models, which were Joseph West and his girlfriend Melissa Fitzgerald.  They are an absolutely stunning couple, and they both happen to be wedding photographers!  I’ve checked out their own work and they are fantastic.  Melissa’s dress was provided by Now And Forever Bridal Boutique and was designed by Hayley Paige. I did a bridal portrait of Melissa in her dress, which is typical preference of my brides.  I knew what the dress was to look like, but I didn’t know what Melissa looked like before I arrived!  So she was headless until that day.  My husband thought it was hilarious before it was finished.  I have become quite skilled at painting faces and hair the day of events, but I still prefer painting the bridal portraits beforehand!  I didn’t get to meet Debbie Nguyen of Pink Palette Artists who did hair and makeup on Melissa, but her hair and makeup looked fantastic, so her work speaks for itself.

The photos here are just some of those taken at the event, and all were taken by Christa Elyce.  Hopefully it will be picked up by a major wedding magazine or website, and I will tell you all if that happens!  I had a delightful time with these women (and one man) and felt so honored participating in the shoot.  I have kept in contact with many of these vendors and they are just as delightful as their work is beautiful.  I can’t wait to work with them again and I cannot recommend then enough!  Check out their work, follow them on Facebook, and tell them I sent you!
